Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke coachbuilding unit, has designed a distinctive keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of Bentley. It is made from Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes the flying “B” paperweight keys, as well as an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.
It’s the perfect present to introduce a new owner to their luxurious car.
Aesthetics

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, one hundred years after it was established. The marque, now owned by Volkswagen alone following years of disputes with BMW and Volkswagen, had planned a series of special events and launches to commemorate this milestone. The marque planned a number special occasions and launches to mark the occasion prior to when the pandemic was declared a priority.
Design
Bentley is famous for its extravagant and luxurious automobiles, but even the keys are made to stand out. The Bentayga Key is constructed of sterling silver and features a large B’ logo to let everyone know that you drive a 2005 bentley continental gt key. The key is also decorated with the years 1919 and 2019, to mark the company’s centenary.
The Mulsanne was revamped and redesigned by Bentley Mulliner to become the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats were designed to provide passengers with the most comfortable and private experience. They were inspired by the luxury private aircraft. The unique heating and ventilation as well as air conditioning system was developed to provide each passenger with the perfect climate control setting.

Function
The Bentley Mulsanne key comes with an open button on the trunk, and another button which starts the car. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight space. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your car.
Each key takes two days to make. The key is cut by hand, shaped, stitched and sealed, then polished to achieve a high-quality result. It is durable small and compact, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to that of the Volkswagen Phaeton large car’s key however it feels heavier and has a premium feel.
Secure-A-Key is also available to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is placed inside the remote control fob, and disables it when the key isn’t utilized for a period of a few minutes. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key’s frequency to other devices that will allow the key to be opened and start the vehicle.

Personalisation
Bentley’s bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to create their own vehicle. The customers sit at a set of images referred to as “mood stations” and select a series of images ranging from scenic vistas to sporting events – that can inspire them. After each selection is made, a pattern emerges that reveals the model and color preferences of the custom bentley leather key case.
The configuration that is created is saved to individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards that are then presented to the guests in a custom-made key case. They are adorned with the owner’s logo or name as they approach the vehicle.
Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a conscious refusal to embrace the latest technology. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of using the car’s built-in sensors to guide it into perpendicular and parallel parking spaces the drivers must do it manually.
During the event, Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities by presenting one of a kind – the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with an item key that shows an original 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
